Privacy Policy

This policy covers the IPSW Checker app for iPhone and iPad, its widgets and extensions, and the website ipswchecker.com (together, “IPSW Checker”). IPSW Checker is made by Trieu Vy (“we”, “us”).

What stays on your device

• Your Favorites, notification choices and other settings are stored on your device and shared only with the app’s own widgets.
• The My Device screen reads your device’s model and installed software version locally to show whether an update is available.
• Siri, Shortcuts and Spotlight features run on your device through Apple’s frameworks.

What we collect, and why

We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, photos or precise location, and we do not sell or rent any data.

Services the app connects to

To show firmware information, the app sends ordinary web requests to the services below. Like any website, they receive your IP address and basic request details, which they may keep in short-lived logs under their own privacy policies.

• api.ipswchecker.com, our server on Cloudflare, for beta firmware data and signing alerts.
• support.apple.com for release notes.
• Apple’s download servers, only when you open or share a firmware download link.

The services above process data on our behalf or as independent providers. Their policies:

How long we keep data

The list of watched device models contains no personal data and is kept for as long as signing alerts are offered. Notification tokens and topic subscriptions are held by Firebase until you turn off notifications, delete the app, or the token expires. Analytics data is kept by Google for up to 14 months.

Your choices

• Turn notifications off at any time in the app under Settings › Notifications, or in iOS Settings.
• Turn off iCloud sync in the app, or in iOS Settings under your Apple Account.
• Deleting the app removes everything stored on your device.
• You can ask us what data relates to you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing hello@trieuvy.com. Because we don’t have accounts, we may need your help to identify the data, for example the time you used the app.

Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act give you rights to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of your data. We will honor these requests.

Children

IPSW Checker is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

This website

ipswchecker.com has no cookies, analytics or tracking scripts. Cloudflare, which hosts it, processes your IP address to deliver and protect the site.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the app’s release notes.
